Jeroen on the net

I’m not a web developer or a programmer or a designer. But I’m interested in all those things, so I try to keep up with some of the basic technology on the web. Ever since I first discovered the internet back in 1993, I have been creating web sites.

  • My first site was a simple page with links to interesting sites. When later I got an internet connection at home that included space for a site, I made my first personal site using FrontPage. Besides my list of interesting sites it contained the inventory of my CD collection, some photos and as of November 1997 it had a news section, which would now be called a weblog. Unfortunately, the site has disappeared, but parts of it are still available on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
  • My personal weblog still contains the entries from the original news section. When I planned my emigration to Spain in 2000, I moved the site to the jeroensangers.com domain, and started using my first real content management system, NewsPro. Later I changed the name to Brain Tags, moved domain again, migrated to Movable Type and shifted the topic from a lifeblog to a techblog.
  • In 2001 I created a website for the non-profit organization Fimcap, for which I am still responsible. We are currently renewing this site and moving it from hand-written HTML code to the eZ Publish CMS.
  • I actually liked blogging, so in May 2005 I started a new blog about Point-Of-Sales systems called The Wizard of POS, which is now defunct.
  • On the site of my side-business Brytenet I started a business weblog, which I didn't update and have therefore deleted.
  • To practice my Spanish, I started El Canasto, and it quickly became my most successful site. The theme of this weblog was chosen because I noticed that I could find very little information about personal productivity in Spanish.
  • I am now consolidating all my blogs into a single Movable Type installation, and as I do quite some meta blogging a new blog called Ai-No appeared.

Op 6 oktober ontving ik een mailtje van een andere Nederlander in Lleida. Helaas ben ik dat mailtje kwijt geraakt, en heb dus je e-mail address niet meer. Kun je me a.u.b. nogmaals een mailtje sturen of me even bellen? Sorry voor het ongemak!
